What’s in these numbers

Each total is a typical job, priced the way a contractor’s estimate is priced:

  • A new toilet, set on the existing flange and connected, with the old toilet taken out.
  • Overhead and profit: 20%, the standard markup on a contractor’s estimate.
  • Sales tax on the materials, at the state’s average rate.

Not in them: replacing a broken flange, moving the drain, repairing a soft or rotted floor around the toilet, high-grade or pressure-assisted toilets, and new tile.

What moves the price

  • The toilet. High-grade, premium, wall-hung and pressure-assisted toilets cost more.
  • The flange and floor. A cracked flange or a soft floor from a long leak is fixed before the new toilet goes down.
  • Moving it. A new location means moving the drain and the supply line.
  • Where you live. Pick your state in the box above.

Common questions

How much does it cost to replace a toilet?

About $725 to $925 for one toilet with the old one taken out, typically $825.

How much for two toilets?

About $1,350 to $1,700, typically $1,500.

What does a toilet cost installed?

$693.00 to $835.00 a toilet each, with overhead, profit and sales tax included.

A toilet leaked into the floor. What else is there?

Water from a toilet can be gray or contaminated water, so the wet floor and subfloor may come out and the area is dried. The water damage restoration guide covers the kinds of water and the drying.
